Our Story as told by Logan

Told by Logan: In May of 2016, I came to South Africa with my college ministry and met Kgodisho for the first time. He was a leader in the same ministry but on the campus in South Africa where I did mission work for 6 weeks. The Americans and South Africans spent a lot of time together and this was where we got to know each other more. Kgodisho and I also connected a lot over music as we even lead worship together for an event.
At the end of my 6 weeks in South Africa, Kgodisho and I knew there were mutual feelings between us but decided we would just stay in contact as I go back home. Even as I left, I knew that I had a desire to do ministry back in South Africa one day so I was pretty confident that I would see him again. We kept in touch for awhile and realized that we wanted to pursue the idea of actually dating. In April of 2017, Kgodisho came to visit me in Texas where he was introduced to my family, friends, and my life in America.
After being in America for a couple of days, Kgodisho officially asked me to be his girlfriend. We both knew that dating long-distance would be tough, but we were willing to take this next step. For the next 20 months, we survived on Facetime, texting, letters, and the once-every-6-months visit to America or South Africa. During this time I was also actively pursuing a full-time ministry job in South Africa.
I moved to South Africa at the beginning of 2019 to being working for Campus Outreach. Kgodisho and I were excited to finally be dating in the same country and even wound up living just 15 minutes from each other. As the year progressed, we started having more conversations about the future. On September 21st, Kgodisho proposed to me on a rooftop that overlooked the city. We are so thankful for how the Lord has written our story and provided for us eery step of the way, and we are excited to bring two culture together as we commit to each other forever!

Our Story as told by Kgodisho

Told by Kgodisho: Okay my turn, on the 8th of My 2016, while i was in there third year of my Law degree, I met this girl from Texas who was in South Africa for a cross cultural project. As i was introducing myself to the entire group, I was particular about how people pronounced my name, so when i introduced myself to Logan, (after a slightly awkward handshake) she pronounced it "perfectly" and i was like, ahh she pronounced it so well, so thats when our "friendship" started.
We really enjoyed each other's company so much that even some of her friends noticed it. Towards the end of the trip, i knew that i REALLY liked this girl, but i was so concerned that i might just never see her again after the 6 week mission trip she was on.
Right after she left, we continued our friendship to see where this would lead up. Nine months later, i paid her a visit in the states.I was a bit concerned with what her friends and family were gonna think (mission trip romances usually get the side-eye LOL) anyways, that trip went great and i knew that i wanted to get to know this girl more, cause i still liked her like crazy..she agreed to be my girlfriend. Fast forward to 2 years later, after i've had 4 trips to the USA and she is about to come to South Africa and start her new job.
January 2019, I knew that this year was going to be big for us, we had been talking what i would look like to be in a "full-time relationship" as i called it. 9 Months later, after a lot of prayer, counsel, chats with our families, I decided that i wanted to make this Godly, Attractive, Smart and brave my wife. Such a big step!! So on 21 September 2019, i asked Logan to be my wife ( after she gave me such a hard time getting her to the surprise venue, Geez).... really looking forward to what new adventures the Lord has for us in this inter-racial, inter-continental relationship. :)
