Des Moines' Downtown Farmers’ Market
Joey and Logan have spent many Saturday mornings at the Downtown Farmers’ Market. This is within walking distance of the venue and hotel and is one of our favorite things to do during the summer in Des Moines!
Gray's Lake Park
Gray’s Lake Park is less than a 5-minute drive from the venue and hotel and is great for a walk, run, and enjoying the Des Moines skyline. You can also rent canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddle boards!
RAYGUN
Anyone who knows Joey knows he loves a good graphic tee! Raygun originally opened in Des Moines and has since expanded to other Midwest cities. It’s a must-stop shop in Des Moines’ Historic East Village, less than a 5-minute drive from the venue and hotel.
Pappajohn Sculpture Park
The Pappajohn Sculpture Park is the perfect picture spot within walking distance of the venue and hotel.
Americana
Americana is a great way to fuel up after a late night of fun! This is a short walk from the venue and hotel. Joey and Logan strongly recommend the Bottomless Bombshell Brunch.
Exile Brewing Company
Exile Brewing Company is a short walk from the venue and hotel and always a great time. Joey and Logan have come here for numerous date nights and hangouts with friends. We most recently visited with Logan’s mom, Logan’s dad, Logan’s brother, Joey’s mom, and Joey’s aunt on the weekend Logan picked out her wedding dress! Logan and Joey recommend the Hannah.
Iowa Cubs
Catch an Iowa Cubs game at Principal Park! There are home games on both Friday and Sunday nights of our wedding weekend. The stadium provides a fun atmosphere and is located downtown. Stop by El Bait Shop for a pre/post-game bite or drink!
Jasper Winery
Jasper Winery is a short drive from Hotel Fort Des Moines. You can swing by for a glass of wine in a gorgeous outside setting or call ahead for a wine/cheese or wine/chocolate tasting!
Akebono 515
Joey and Logan used to come here so much that some of the employees recognized them! This is within walking distance of Hotel Fort Des Moines. We highly recommend the Malibu Crunch roll and, of course, a sake bomb.
Big Grove Brewery & Taproom
Big Grove Brewery & Taproom just opened and Logan and Joey have been dying to check it out! It provides a lot of indoor and outdoor seating and is .7 miles away from Hotel Fort Des Moines.
Centro
Centro has some of the best Italian food in Des Moines! It offers a nice atmosphere, is a short walk from Hotel Fort Des Moines, and is in the same building as the wedding venue. This is a very popular restaurant, so if you'd like to check it out, we recommend making reservations!
The Royal Mile
The Royal Mile has Joey's name written all over it! It's one of Logan and Joey's favorite places to grab a drink in Des Moines. It offers an extensive scotch list and delicious pub food.
Hello, Marjorie
Just like The Royal Mile has Joey's name written all over it, this bar is more Logan's speed! Hello, Marjorie offers craft cocktails in a room decorated like a '70s-era living room. This is a short walk from Hotel Fort Des Moines.
Bubba
Bubba offers all the comfort food you could ask for in a trendy space! This is right down the block from Hotel Fort Des Moines. It gets pretty busy on weekend nights, so if you'd like to check it out, we recommend making reservations!
