How we met

The year was 2000, and Logan moved in two doors down from Haley. The rest is history… 😉 Kidding, but we did actually grow up together! With our little sisters and parents being friends, we were around each other often, though we went to different schools for elementary, middle, and high school, so never truly got to know each other. After college, we lived in different places but would hang out when we were both back in Oceanside. In 2020 we both ended up living in San Francisco and started dating. We kept it a secret from our parents for about 9 months though. During this time, our mom's would frequently encourage us to reach out to one another and hang out, and these conversations would ultimately end up with white lies from both Logan and I (sorry Chamaine and Robin). In 2021 we moved back to San Diego from San Francisco and have been here ever since. We always feel so lucky that we never had to “meet the parents,” decide whose family to visit for the holidays, or navigate in-law introductions. (Truly, it’s rare to find a Friday night when Robin and Chamaine aren’t having a glass of wine together, or a Saturday morning without their hot yoga class). Doesn't get much better than that!

The Proposal

What I thought was going to be a birthday brunch for Logan's sister, turned into the day of my dreams! We had planned on celebrating Emma's birthday at Mr. A's in San Diego (iykyk). About a week before, Logan told me he had also won a tea tasting at the Japanese Tea Garden in Balboa Park the same day as the brunch. Of course, I questioned him, but he had an email from them confirming the details (shout out chatgpt) and Logan has been a tea lover as long as I have known him, maintaining his monthly tea subscription for years -so it wasn't as suspicious as it sounds. When we arrived at the garden, someone greeted us and asked if we were there for the tasting, then gave us “directions” to the event. As we walked through the Japanese gardens, I stopped on a bridge to look down at the koi fish and thats when Logan got on his knee and proposed. Don't ask me what he said, I think I blacked out in happiness but it was definitely a moment to remember. Even better, a few minutes later, our sisters and their significant others popped out of their hiding spaces with cameras. Logan had rented out the Japanese gardens, so we spent the morning enjoying the space before wandering back through Balboa Park where our parents were there with the cutest picnic spread (and plenty of celebratory champagne.) 5/25/25 will always be a day we remember forever.
