It was May of 2016 when Logan was two years into his first job with his company, which originally brought him from Birmingham, Alabama to Mooresville, North Carolina. I had recently graduated and was in the process of moving to Winston-Salem to start my graduate degree. At this point in our lives, we were both looking for a steady relationship with deeper meaning. This is what led us to meet pretty unconventionally, as “millennials” do, online! Immediately after connecting, we met for our first date at a lakeside restaurant that was nothing short of picture perfect romance. I’ll never forget the first time I saw Logan. My jaw literally dropped and the words I audibly said under my breath, “Marry Me”. (Spoiler alert, I actually marry him at the end of our story!). I’m usually well composed, but there was something about Logan that made me so nervous and completely threw me off. This caused me to become the most uncomfortable and awkward date in history. Our date continued as I progressively became more awkward the more my crush on Logan grew. As soon as we finished our dinner I remember thinking to myself, “this guy is NEVER going to call me again, I totally blew it!” As we finished up our evening and said our goodbyes, I gave him the most uncomfortable one-armed side hug and quickly turned away and started walking towards my car. He allowed me get most of the way across the parking lot before I heard him yell out to me, “Really!?...That’s it?!” It was at that point that I knew if Logan could still want to kiss me after my terrible performance, this man is something special! The past several years have brought the two of us closer than ever. We went from living in different cities, commuting back and forth every weekend, to moving in together in a new city where we could plant roots and finally become a family. We are so thankful to have all of your support on our journey through engagement and soon marriage!
