Our love story is just that, a beautiful story. Perfect? Absolutely not. To us, absolute perfection. We met in seventh grade and even then we both knew we had something special. Albeit, young and dumb and not ready to acknowledge it. Fast forward a few years, add in a few pets, other relationships and tedious tries (on EJ’s part) we began dating in 2007, our senior year of high school. We decided to fight the odds and stay together as EJ went to play baseball at Neosho, then to Fort Scott, and Logan left for Kansas State, to study…and maybe socialize a bit. These years were definitely the most trying years of our relationship; yet undeniably the reason we arewhere we are today. If you asked us during this time if we were dating our answer was probably “I don’t know what we are doing.” Our love for each other never faded, yet we both struggled with the four-hour distant relationship. After college, we continued “dating from afar” yet still couldn’t define our relationship. However, in our hearts, we both knew there was no one else. Eventually, Logan moved back to Lawrence and EJ to Salina at about the time we solidified our relationship as a couple. In 2015, Logan moved to Kansas City and shortly thereafter EJ followed her to start their life together. A home purchase, another move, two fur babies, a couple job changes and here we are! That “far from perfect” history got us to where we are today and has led the writing of this story. Because you have touched our lives, we are sharing it with you. We are ecstatic to be marrying our best friend and writing the rest of our love story together.
A typical Saturday for us usually includes sports of some kind so it was no surprise when they decided to go to a KU football game with Mike, Tami, Regan and Matt. The day started like any other as we got ready and packed up the car to leave. Mike offered to take the girls first and drop them at the door so we didn’t have to walk in heels. The girls made their way up to a suite and put on their game faces. Mike arrived prior to kick-off with Matt and Garrett but no EJ. He had allegedly stopped to talk to an old coach. The first quarter was nearing its end and Logan got a little antsy (and maybe just a little angry) at EJ for making the family and the suite hosts wait. Little did she know he was outside in the hallway, sweaty palms and all, waiting for the plan to come together. With seconds left in the first quarter, the suite got uncomfortably quiet. As Logan turned in her seat, Baby Jay and several members of the Spirit Squad walked in. Baby Jay dropped to a knee and opened a huge box with a special message inside…”Will you marry me”? EJ gently moved Baby Jay over and dropped to a knee, and amidst tears and cheers presented Logan with the most beautiful ring! After wiping away tears and reapplying makeup, they were toasted by friends in the suite and pictures were snapped. At half, they all decided to go to a tailgate but little did Logan know, it was THEIR tailgate. Friends and family had all gathered to congratulate them and share in the festivities. The fun continued with a “family” happy hour at Mike and Tami’s. After a round of champagne toasts and a few twirls on the dance floor, the evening came to a close as the couple was surrounded by love and happy wishes.
