We met the first weekend that I (Brooke) came to Liberty in the Spring semester of 2017. My roommate at that time, shoutout to Rachel Nasser, invited me to come to her friend Logan's house. And of course I said yes because what else was I supposed to do at a new school where I knew nobody. So on January 14, 2017, I showed up to Logan's house and met him in the driveway. After that, our friendship continued to grow throughout the semester with lots of acai bowl runs, rock climbing, movie nights with friends, working out, and staying up until 4 AM every weekend talking while playing card games that I would beat Logan at every time. We always would find new things in common with our similar interest already established. As our friendship blossomed, Logan's feelings for me did too. But, I refused to reciprocate for months lol. Then of course, the notorious spring break trip came around where I finally let my guard down and let myself feel the feelings I had for Logan. The semester continued with numerous dates and convincing Logan to move to California for the summer, even though I would be gone the whole time working at a camp (#noplacelikeHume). Many people thought I was crazy for having my new boyfriend live with my family the whole summer WITHOUT ME THERE. And they were probably right. That summer solidified our relationship and the prospective future we could see together. By the end of that summer, Logan had asked for my parents blessing and of course he got it. From there on, we traveled back to Virginia at the end of the summer and continued to do life together in Lynchburg with the anticipation of a proposal coming soon...
Near the end of the summer after living with Brooke’s family, I (Logan) felt that it was time to ask for the blessing. Me and Brooke’s dad spent many evenings playing corn hole in the backyard. What better way to ask for the blessing then while playing the one of our favorite games! He said yes and the ring shopping started. The ring was purchased in September and was kept in the attic until January. It was tempting not to pull the ring down and pop the question, but I had the perfect plan. We spent our entire day exploring Carmel, California and walking along the beach. It just so happened that there was a poodle club having a reunion, so we sat on the beach and watched all of the dogs running in and out of the water. Around sunset, we walked out to a spot on the rocks by the water and I dropped down to one knee. p.s. I had a whole speech prepared, but when I got down to propose, I was so overwhelmed that I completely froze. We both just laughed. But she said yes!
