Mt. Shasta has some incredible mountain lakes to picnic at or enjoy a swim. Lake Siskiyou and Castle Lake can be driven right up to, and have trails to walk around them. Heart Lake is a short hike from Castle, although its a steep incline. From Heart Lake, you look down upon Castle Lake, and get incredible views of Mt. Shasta.
