Logan & Christina

Sustainability

We care about making our wedding as sustainable as we can. If you're interested in learning more, you can read on below! We plan to keep updating this as we take care of more wedding planning.

Pump House B&B

Venue

The Pump House, historically once an oil pumping station, has been painstakingly and lovingly revitalized by owners Doug and Lisa to be an ultra-sustainable venue. Their passion as stewards of the land is evident in their every decision, including installing solar panels, choosing electric vehicles, designing a comprehensive composting and recycling system, and becoming carbon neutral, among others. Christina has been honored to work with Doug and Lisa on the creation of an informational packet, which introduces vendors (and couples!) to the sustainability initiatives at the Pump House.

The Blind Pig Kitchen

Caterer

The Blind Pig Kitchen is the creation and collaboration of Toby Diltz and Sarah Walzer. Sarah and Toby live on a 6 acre homestead outside of rural Benton, Pennsylvania. Utilizing their greenhouse, garden and woodland area they grow berries, vegetables, mushrooms, meat birds, laying hens, turkeys and heritage breed hogs. Their goal is "to create unique dishes using local and seasonal ingredients. We believe in supporting local farms and producers. Here in Pennsylvania we are lucky to be surrounded by a cornucopia of farms and people whose primary goal is to grow and produce high quality products using sustainable methods. To us, sustainability means creating and interacting using responsible methods."

The Dress

Clothing

No, this isn't Christina's dress ;) but she's excited that she was able to find one secondhand! It is estimated that Americans will throw out almost 26 billion pounds of clothing this year. By choosing a dress that was gently worn once, she was able to alleviate some of the environmental burden of new clothing production.

Dishes & Napkins

TABLEWARE

One of our primary objectives with catering is to ensure that no disposables will be utilized during our wedding. It's a lofty goal in a single-use culture, but we've started by gathering an absurd amount of Craigslist china! We've also ordered cloth napkins from the very talented Christina of MooCowMomma textiles and will be using bulk restaurant silverware. We chose to buy, rather than rent, because we hope to throw some more good parties during our marriage...and who doesn't need 100 cloth napkins?!
