Jen and Jake met the way everyone else meets these days - online dating via Hinge. Jake reached out to Jen first asking what Jen thought of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which led to an instant connection. Their first date was virtual (Covid was still a thing), while their first in-person date was in Salem, MA at the Flying Saucer Pizza Company.

It was August 23, 2024. Jen and Jake were up at the cottage with Jake's parents and Jen's parents, sitting around a camp fire. Everyone was discussing the logistics of dessert when Jake said to Jen, "How are you going to carry dessert with this thing on your hand?" He pulled out the ring from his pocket and asked Jen to marry him. The dessert was an anniversary cake. It also happened to be Jen's parents' 43rd wedding anniversary, a sure sign of good things to come! Both of our fathers had one concern that night- that they actually got dessert.
