We matched on Hinge, and true to our Philly meets Jersey roots, our very first messages quickly turned into a spirited debate over who was the better Superintendent. As with any great love story, sparks flew over subcontractor schedules and punch lists, and it did not take long for us to realize this conversation needed to continue off line. That conversation flowed just as easily as the Guinness and Magners at our first date, or “meet up” if you ask Michael, in historic Old Town Alexandria. In true Superintendent fashion, the evening was meticulously coordinated between the end of Michael’s day shift in Maryland and the start of Katie’s night shift at Reagan Airport. We quickly realized our connection went far beyond a shared career. Despite a few interruptions from subcontractors, Katie made it to work, albeit a little late, and Michael was already planning the next time we could see each other. After a few more dates filled with laughter, great music, even better food, and everything Washington, D.C. has to offer, we began to realize how often our lives had unknowingly run in parallel. We could have crossed paths during Michael’s visits to his best friend at George Mason University, or while Katie’s college roommate and Michael’s cousins lived on the same New Jersey street, or at any number of overlapping professional events. While there were countless chances to meet earlier, we found each other exactly when the timing and the foundation were right. In the years that followed, we racked up miles of adventures and memories with Willow, Katie’s Jeep Wrangler. From off roading in the Outer Banks, to head banging in traffic on Route 95 up to the Jersey Shore, to exploring just about every corner of the greater DMV, our love grew stronger with every mile. One busy weekend, like so many before, we toured each other’s hometowns, and on May 25, 2025, Michael proposed to Katie beneath the historic Weeping Beech tree at the Morris Arboretum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We are so excited to begin this next chapter of our lives together and cannot wait to celebrate with each and every one of you. With all our love, Katie & Michael
