An Engine That Wouldn’t Start… & A Love That Did

Some love stories start with a candlelight dinner, or a trip to the bowling alley. Gareth and Liz’s started with the strong smells of diesel the loud whistles of old steam engines, and a little bit of unexpected charm at the Pageant of Steam in Canandaigua, NY. From the beginning, everything felt warm and easy with a hint of awkward when Gareth’s WD45 “lady puller” did not start! Gareth had a back up plan, the “little” to him but big to Liz, Allis D10. They drove off in the sunset taking in the scenery of antique tractors and each other - one of the most simple, peaceful moments that ended up meaning more than they expected. As the night went on and the sun set, they finished their journey by the fire talking about God, Jesus, and their faith. What started as a casual conversation turned into something deeper, and in that moment, everything just clicked. From that night on, they just fit. His calm, introverted nature perfectly balances her more outgoing, wild side—and somehow, it’s always felt easy for them to be themselves together. They both had been praying for a long time for the right person to come along and share the same genuine love for Christ and for each other. And in the most unexpected place, they found just that! From a tractor that wouldn’t start… to a love that never stopped growing—that is how their story began 🤍
