OUR ENGAGEMENT STORY

September 14, 2024

Misha had the entire engagement preplanned so well that he kept me guessing throughout the whole process, complete with clever distractions to ensure I wouldn’t figure out the actual engagement day. Within five minutes of Misha telling me that he had booked us a photoshoot for October 5th, 2024 I had texted my sister that I was sure this was the day that he would propose! Over the next five weeks I had conversations with my friends and coworkers about how I had this suspicion. During this time, Misha had “booked us an AirBnb” for the trip and had helped me pick out and buy the perfect dress. A few weeks prior to these plans my sister, Marissa, had told me that my mom wanted to pay for us to get our nails done for “back to school season”. As weeks went by I remained mostly confident that October 5th would be the day he would ask me to marry him. On September 5th, 2024 Misha had a “last minute idea” to go on a winery tour on the upcoming Saturday, since he found a “Groupon” discount for the tour as we have talked about doing one before. He also insisted on me wearing my new dress because he really wanted to see me in it. The day prior to the winery tour I was expressing my frustration to my coworkers Sandra and Elisha that he was insisting on me wearing the photoshoot dress and I did not want to wear what I thought was my engagement photoshoot dress multiple times. That Friday evening my sister shared that the engagement was ‘a long way away’ and that I should be patient. My brother in law, Jason, seemed surprised at the news that we were talking about engagement. These comments from my friends and family left me unsure of the timing of our engagement. That night I fell asleep wondering if it would be the last time I would ever be a girlfriend. On the morning of the wine tour I woke up with the possibility of engagement on my mind. I also spent the morning yawning, which caused Misha to say that we “didn’t have to go on the wine tour” since I was tired. This caused my mood to fall, my eyes to water occasionally, and a spike in attitude from disappointment. I got ready grumpily in the dress that he insisted on and hurriedly curled my hair, since I wasn’t going to get engaged that day. After getting in the car I sent one more text to my sister venting about getting all dressed up when he wasn’t even going to propose. She responded to me encouraging me to enjoy our “fancy date night” and that sparked my hope. On the drive to Temecula, Misha began to show signs of nerves and I felt a rush of excitement and calm come over me. Once we arrived at the Gershon Bachus Vintners winery, which had very few other visitors, we met with a tour guide. After guiding us around the main building I noticed a gorgeous picnic set up with champagne, charcuterie, a decorative umbrella, and the huge sign reading “will you marry me?” Our tour guide turned into a photographer who captured this special moment. So on September 14, 2024 I agreed to marry Michael Loboda and to spend the rest of our lives loving and caring for each other. Following this amazing moment we spent time together talking over each of these distractions and tricks that he had been playing to throw me off on his proposal plan. After I thought the surprises were over he took me to the Leoness Restaurant and Winery. As we were being escorted to our table I noticed a sign reading “Welcome to the engagement celebration of Olivia and Michael.” I froze and thought, wait, that's me! I looked around and saw many of our loved ones. I saw my family, including my parents, Marissa, nieces, and Jason as well as Misha’s precious daughter Alaina. I also saw my best friend Madison and many of Misha’s closest friends. I burst into tears and was so thankful for Misha planning the most perfect engagement! It truly could not have been any better! I am so blessed to have so many amazing people in my life and so much support as I head into this next phase of life with my future husband.
