It all started on October 13, 2018. We were both invited to a swing dance - a kind of event that neither one of us had been to. A couple of hours into the dance, he walked up to me and said, "Hi, my name is Jake. I don't know how to dance, but if you'd like to awkwardly sway on time to the music and just talk, that'd be great." We never would have imagined meeting one another at a swing dance, but now we wouldn't have wanted it any other way!
I was able to join the Lloyd family on their vacation to Virginia Beach. The last day of our vacation also happened to be our six month anniversary, so Jake decided to take me out for a nice dinner. After dinner we went back to the beach house to pick up his sister and brother-in-law, and he was very adamant about making it back to the beach on time to watch the sun set. While we were walking on the beach, Jake started to tell me six reasons why he wanted to marry me. When he was done talking, he got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. I of course said yes, and now here we are!
Our wedding story is nothing like we had imagined! After our engagement, we quickly started to plan our special day. We wanted to get married as soon as Jake was done with school, so naturally, we chose the week after his graduation! We started counting down the days until May 30th, 2020, and it felt like that day would never come. Then, as you all know, March 2020 came around and everything changed. We held out for as long as we could before having to make the heart breaking decision of canceling our ceremony and reception on May 30th. We were devastated, but God in His mercy allowed us to be married on April 25th, 2020 - a month earlier than expected! Wanting to have as normal of a wedding as possible, we quickly started to plan our new wedding day. Within 2 weeks, MaKayla got her dress altered, the maid of honor put together a beautiful bouquet, ladies from our church decorated the venue, and many others put in the work to make our day so special! The Lloyd's and the Keller's came together on April 25th, at Grace Covenant Baptist Church, and Jake and MaKayla said "I do!"
