Yomi Wrong

The Ringmaster

Chris and Yomi met in 2003 through work. A couple of years later, Facebook brought them back together and they’ve been conspiratorial confidantes ever since. At least half of what they say to each other should be whispered to protect the innocent but it almost never is. Lloyd and Yomi met virtually in 2020 and in person in 2021. They’ve become fast friends and Chris often finds them laughing loudly together. Yomi lives in Oakland and dreams of winning it big on the professional poker circuit.

Jennifer Graham

The Creative

Jennifer and Lloyd met on a very hot day in August of 1986 when Lloyd was born in Savannah, GA. They are 19 months apart and have a very loving Brother/Sister relationship. Lloyd gave Jennifer a hard time growing up as a little brother should and Jennifer put Lloyd in his place at times as an older sister should. As Lloyd and Jennifer grew up, they naturally bonded over the shared experience of being their parents children which came with being a preacher’s kid, child of a teacher, and lots of restrictions. Nevertheless, they relish the memories of staying up watching the TV show Oz when they were far too young to be seeing such content and going to work with their Dad on Saturday mornings because that mean they would be treated the a delicious breakfast at the Burger King’s palace. As 30 somethings, they are able to talk about the trials and tribulations of adulting like dating complicated men and bowel movements as well as multiple streams of income. In reality, they both actually think very similarly so there is a lot of agreement whenever they are together. They have had each other back in a lot and been at odds with each other over very little. Whatever the cause may be, they are extremely blessed to have each other as siblings and are truly life long partners.

Eliza Barrios

The Relator

Chris first met Eliza at the Hotel Utah through a friend from IU in 1995. They later worked together for a year and have been partners in crime ever since. Chris eventually moved in next door to Eliza on Pink and Pearl and spent time exploring Buenos Aires together during overlapping trips. Mostly, though, they’ve been confidants and cheerleaders and reality checks for each other for almost 30 years. Eliza and Aly still live on Pink and Pearl though just about everything else about the street has changed twice over.

Matt Walker

The Synergy

Matt and Lloyd met the summer of 2016 when Lloyd started working for RPS at Indiana University where Matt was already employed. After the initial meeting Matt was intrigued that Lloyd lived life with extreme and unapologetic joy. He thought Lloyd’s infectious laughter was distinct and carried above any crowd. It made him smile to see him enjoying life fully. Lloyd’s initial impression of Matt was that he was a beautiful and educated man and wondered how he could be so nice. There was no way Matt was like that all the time but his spirit was genuine and true which Lloyd realized he needed more of in his life. After connecting over a passing conversation about white fragility, because it’s just a casual topic, Lloyd reached out to Matt to share more info over Facebook messenger in 2018. That conversation resulted in an honest, transparent discussion of toxic masculinity, our emotions, and romantic relationships. They found that we had a lot in common! As it turns out, we both grew up as preachers kids, attended the same type of church, and had a zest for life! They grew closer over the years and continued to keep one another up to date on their dating lives, including helping each other with proposing to their partner. They support each other with the good, bad, and ugly and have become family.

Greg Cornes

The Energizer

When Chris bought his house outside DC in 2012, the best part of the purchase was getting Greg and his wife Doreatha as next door neighbors. Greg and Chris quickly became friends who flew planes, went kayaking, and shot handguns together. But mostly, they just made fun of each other- Greg loved to give Chris grief for his utter lack of musical knowledge and Chris timed how long it took Greg to drive over speed bumps (on average, 12 seconds). Greg and Chris have stayed in touch since Chris moved back to Indy and try to see each other at least once a year.

Matt Brigner

The Honey Badger

The other Matt and Lloyd met when Lloyd started working at Georgia Southern University in 2010. Of course, Lloyd naturally bonded more with Matt’s better half, Claire but eventually Lloyd was able to discover why Matt was such a great guy. They eventually developed nicknames for each other due to entertaining and unresolved engagements. The first being Honey Badger. I’m 2011 there was a very comical “viral video, The Crazy Nastyass Honey Badger, for which original narration (including variations of "honey badger don't care") was dubbed over preexisting footage of a honey badger fending off various dangerous situations.” Matt and Lloyd would spend minutes enjoying the honey badger phenomenon to the point that it became Lloyd’s nickname for Matt, shortening it to HB. Another, less fortunate, but just as entertaining engagement that created Matt’s nickname for Lloyd was an argument the two had I’ve a Little Debbie snack or in Matt’s delusional mind, 2 Little Debbie snacks. Matt seems to think the delicious Nutty Buddy snack is two snacks as opposed to one. Lloyd argues that it’s one snack and if anyone were to give him just one wafer bar, he would see that as half of the treat and subsequently get pissed. Thus, Nutty Buddy became Lloyd’s nickname. Lloyd and Matt became good friend and Lloyd is thankful for the entire Brigade (Matt, wife Claire, sons Gavin and Everett James, and the newest member, daughter Charlotte).

Diana Laura Mori Glatstein

The Compassionate

Diana and Chris met in … you guessed it, 1995. They met through a mutual friend and were part of a fun, creative, close-knit friend group for several years. There is almost no project Diana won’t take on and whatever skill it requires, she possesses it or will learn it. Her home is an art gallery, craft studio, dinner destination, and crash pad for travelers and wanderers far and wide. She is a lost piece of old San Francisco who is almost certainly a character in more books, short stories, and film projects than anyone you know. She is still living and thriving in the Bay Area.

Nora Rosena Graham

The Queen

Mother of Lloyd and soon to be mother-in-charge of Chris. Mrs.G or “Mom” has been a constant source of support and humor for Lloyd and Chris. It is often said that Chris really became part of the family the first time mom threatened to choke him over a comment he made. Whether warranted or not, that truly was the moment when Chris felt accepted and it was quite entertaining for the whole family. Mrs. G is a prayer warrior and constant positive figure to have in Lloyd and Chris’ life. She checks in on them regularly, always has an encouraging word, and scams her way to victory at every monthly family game night. They could not imagine life without her and are so grateful to have her be a part of such a monumental occasion.
