National Mall
The National Mall is home to iconic monuments and many free museums, including the Smithsonian museums and the National Gallery of Art. It’s easy to explore on foot and quickly accessible by Metro (20-30 minute ride), making it a fun and easy day trip! Directions: To get there from Bethesda Metro Station, hop on the Red Line to Metro Center, then transfer to the Orange Line (New Carrollton – Vienna/Fairfax-GMU) or Silver Line (Largo Town Center) and get off at Smithsonian Station. From there, the monuments and Smithsonian museums are just a 5–10 minute walk away.
