Things To Do
One of Lizzy's favorite things to take out-of-town visitors to do is the $30 "nickel tour" of San Francisco. The traditional method is to start at the Ferry Building for coffee and/or a snack, then walk to the cable car California line at California & Drumm and buy a cable car all-day pass. Take the cable car up to the California & Stockton station, then hop off and walk a few blocks into Chinatown. There you'll find an abundance of great food, tea, and some fun tourist shopping, as well as places like the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory, where Lizzy took Jay the first time he came to visit. When you're done exploring, hop back on the cable car, this time getting on the Powell & Hyde line and riding it all the way down to the waterfront, where you'll find the Maritime National Historical Park and the Musee Mecanique, as well as the more traditionally touristy Fisherman's Wharf.
You can also do this process in reverse and walk or take the streetcar along the Embarcadero back.
