Windows trail in the Chisos mountains. This moderate trail is a great alternative to more strenuous climbs in the Chisos. Windows ends at a canyon pour off with an amazing view of the park.

Santa Elena Canyon. This is a must see, if you only have one day in the park we recommend taking Ross Maxwell scenic drive to Santa Elena canyon.

Mesa de Anguila trail

Ernst Tinaja. A beautiful short hike to carved out desert watering holes on the southern end of Old Ore Road (about 5 miles on a primitive dirt road). High clearance vehicle required.

South rim trail, Chisos Mountains. The best view in the park. The hike takes about 8 hours so leave early and pack lots of water!

Pine Canyon trail. This hike begins in the high desert and ends in a cool canyon filled oak, pine, and madrone complete with a frozen waterfall.

Lost Mine trail, Chisos mountains. This is our favorite hike in the Chisos with an amazing 360 view of the east side of the park. takes about 3 hrs, get there early as parking spaces are limited.

Cinco Tinajas trail, Big Bend Ranch state Park. (a moderate amount of bouldering is required for this view). This and closed canyon trail are our favorites in Big Bend Ranch State Park

Mariscal Mine trail. This abandoned mercury mine is along the 50.7 mile unmaintained primitive River Road OHV trail. all terrain high clearance vehicles only. Keep an eye out for wild horses!
