Our Love Story

from Chestnut Hill to NYC

If you've spent more than five minutes with us, we probably brought up our love for Boston College. Not only did BC give us a lifetime of memories and friends, it brought us together. We met on our first day of business school orientation after being placed in the same project group for the semester, and were immediately great...project partners? We worked together very well and found that we had a lot in common, and our project partner-ship grew to a strong friendship. We were together all the time, we laughed a lot, and any time apart we couldn't wait to talk about together. Our first date was in February 2015 at Abe & Louie's and we loved spending the next three years exploring Brookline, Newbury Street, and the North End. After not enough football games and tailgates, Marathon Mondays, study abroad, band practices, meals with friends in Lower/Hillside/Eagle's Nest, Mod parties, and Sweet Caroline renditions, we said goodbye together to our favorite place in May 2018. That fall, we found a cozy apartment in Hell's Kitchen. It didn't tick any of our boxes (no elevator, fifth floor, no laundry), but it was ours. 854 8th Ave, from our first night with nothing but an air mattress and some Thai food through working from home during a global pandemic, was an experience to remember, and we retroactively apologize to our friends and family who made the climb just to spend time with us. During the pandemic, we discussed getting a dog a (reasonable) number of times, and we (definitely instantly) agreed to foster a scruffy white pup from Kentucky. Watson arrived in Manhattan on September 12, 2020 and made himself right at home in our apartment and in our hearts. We are so lucky to have him along for the ride (literally, he loves the car) and to share zooms around the beach in Montauk, dog meetups at our current apartment complex, and snowshoeing with Spiro in upstate NY with our best friend. On a rare trip without our little buddy, we spent six days in Lisbon and four days in Porto, Portugal. We explored every inch of both cities, taking in thousand-year-old castles, a LOT of codfish, ornate monasteries and grounds, custard tarts, and rich history. After a beautiful Fado dinner (authentic Portuguese food accompanied by live music, typically emotional love songs), we went for a final walk around Parque Eduardo VII. It was uncharacteristically empty, with views of the entire city. There, on June 7, 2022 (completely unexpectedly!), Spiro got down on one knee, and Lizzie said yes to forever. We can't wait to celebrate our story and a whole lot of love with you. See you in 2024. xoxo, Lizzie, Spiro, and Watson 🐾
