Oh man! Where to start? Grant and I didn’t start off on the right foot, but isn’t that where all love stories begin?! Thankfully, it did for us! We both started off our first year of Healing Place College not knowing anyone. Lucky for us, we made friends quickly. While at our beach retreat, we had our first encounter. Here is the perspective from us both! (Warning: I was the bad guy) L: “oh my gosh... who’s the new kid? His humor is so RUDE! Yeah, I don’t think I’m going to like him very much. But hey, he’s a cutie!” G: “man, this girl is so mean to me. Can she not take a joke? Boy, I’m in for a year.” Yeah, not starting off great here! Thankfully, as the year went on, we both started to lighten up a bit, hung out with friends together, and actually laughed at each other’s joke! After getting to know each other, we decided “Heyyyy this person isn’t so bad.” Which turned into “heyyyy we like each other. SHOCKER! Haha” He went to my father, asked for permission to date me (instantly won my parents over) and once our first year of college ended, we started dating. YAY! Best. Decision. EVER. The rest is history! Every year my family takes pictures at the pavilion in New Orleans. This year my dad suggested his parents come along to start a new tradition. Naturally, I was ecstatic! Grant knew every detail that would make this proposal the best ever: our family be there, a photographer, and of course, my nails done! Unfortunately, Grant told me his parents couldn’t be there. This detail alone made me believe “not this year girlfriend”! Once everyone got there, we began the picture process. In the distance, I saw Grant’s parents show up! Yay! Grant seemed surprised, too. (See ... he's good at keeping a secret) My sisters grabbed my attention and once I turned back around for the photo there he was, on one knee. Of course, I said YES!!! The best choice we’ve ever made! And here we are now, planning our wedding and beginning this next chapter of life!
