While our story officially began on December 6th, 2021, the book was being written months before. We first met while working at ABBA Design. To be honest, we didn’t really get along at first. Connor, the longest tenured employee, didn’t like the new girl telling him what to do; so, he didn’t listen. Lizzie, the new “boss,” didn’t like the longest tenured employee not listening. After a bit, something changed. The banter became more playful, or flirtatious if you will. It was obvious to everyone except for us where this was heading. After a month or so of this new dynamic, a move had yet to be made. On December 6th, while decorating a client's home for Christmas, Lizzie fell off a ladder and was pretty banged up. Upon returning from picking up lunch, Connor heard what happened and very eagerly jumped on the opportunity to give Lizzie a ride home. He wasn’t satisfied. Connor spent the remainder of the afternoon subtly insisting that Lizzie needed someone to care for her, hardly serious, injuries. Finally, Lizzie caved, so Connor drove over and, quite literally, never left. Days later, we went on our first date to Green Valley Grille, marking the beginning of an amazing relationship full of love, laughter, adventure, memories, and family. Four wonderful years later, we found ourselves at Green Valley Grille for our anniversary once again. A lot had changed in those four years, but our love for each other remained as strong as ever. After dinner, Connor, not so cleverly, lured Lizzie outside to where he and our best friend Carley (who was fully capable of tending to Lizzie’s bumps and bruises on that same night 4 years prior) had staged the proposal. As Connor led Lizzie into the candlelit courtyard of the O’Henry Hotel, it wasn’t until she saw the candles staged behind the towering Christmas tree that she realized what was happening. A minute later, she said yes. Ladders can indeed be dangerous, but they can also be the beginning of a life of love!
