Great open farmer’s market on Sundays. Lots of food stands and fun local goods. Of course Ballard as a neighborhood in general offers some of the trendier sights and shopping areas. A cute little shopping strip around the farmer’s market has great restaurants and shopping all year round.
The most classic of all Seattle activities! Walk around the market and then maybe wander down to the waterfront to ride the Great Wheel, or visit the aquarium if you’ve got kids in tow. Pike place is an oldie but a goodie, you can use it for a lively afternoon or as a pit stop for a fun snack!
Capitol Hill is an epicenter for the younger and more liberal Seattle crowd. Walking around checking out shops and restaurants in this area can definitely fill part of a day. While you’re at it, visit the Starbuck’s Roastery on Pike street and try some of the fancier (and tastier) offerings they have.
Belltown is the little sister to downtown. This area is increasingly hip, with luxury condos, trendy restaurants, swanky bars, and a number of boutiques. Biggest arguments to explore this area during the day are Macrina bakery and the Olympic Sculpture Garden.
This area is in the opposite direction of Belltown, and leads you towards Seattle’s mighty stadium region where you could grab some much desired Seahawks gear as a reminder of the trip! Pioneer Square is Seattle's oldest neighborhood. It attracts visitors for elegantly renovated (or in some cases replica) turn-of-the-20th-century redbrick buildings and art galleries. It's the center of Seattle's arts scene and the galleries in this small neighborhood make up the majority of its sights. If you like antiques or unique boutiques then definitely give Pioneer Square a go!
