We Are Getting Married!

In the wake of the 2021 Texas “Texalaska” winter storm, Liz and Robert swiped right on Tinder, which was one swipe that turned out to be the best decision they ever made. Their first date was a cozy Harry Potter movie marathon, complete with laughs, snacks, and the beginning of something special. A home-cooked steak dinner and homemade crème brûlée by Robert quickly followed, setting a very high bar and confirming that food would always play a starring role in their relationship. On March 19, 2021, after a romantic night at The Capital Grille, Robert made it official and asked Liz to be his girlfriend. They celebrated the very next day by wandering around downtown Dallas as an official couple, soaking in the excitement and realizing this was just the beginning. Five years later, they’re still laughing, still choosing each other every day, and now share their home with three adorable boy cats—thrilled to celebrate this next chapter with the people they love most. In January 2026, during our annual family ski trip to Pagosa Springs, Colorado, we had already spent two full days skiing and decided to treat ourselves to a relaxing morning at the hot springs. After breakfast and massages, we relaxed in the hot springs with drinks in hand, fully embracing the moment. That is when Robert, who had been wanting to go hiking all trip, brought it up again. Liz was a definite no. After such a peaceful morning, she did not want to leave the comfort and warmth of the hot springs and end the day with a hike. She suggested they rinse off, go for a hike, and then return home to shower and relax. However, Robert was very adamant about going back to the Airbnb for a full shower before hiking. After a little convincing, Liz agreed and decided to let Remy, Robert’s sister and brother in law’s dog, tag along on the hike. Liz was dressed for comfort, not a proposal. She wore a beanie, an oversized zip up sweater, sweats, snow boots, and just mascara. They hiked a beautiful trail covered in snow and came across a frozen waterfall. Robert suggested going past the bridge and closer to the bottom of the waterfall. As Liz carefully walked down, making sure Remy did not slip on the icy rocks or get into the water, she had her back turned to Robert and had no idea what was about to happen next. When Remy turned around and Liz followed, she found Robert down on one knee, holding the most beautiful ring and asking, “Will you marry me?” Liz gasped in shock and, through happy tears, said yes.
