Their love story began in November 2018, a time when Lizette was deep in her university studies, and Louie had just taken a big step by applying to the Border Patrol. Fate had its own plans, and soon they found themselves in a long-distance relationship for six months. Despite the miles between them, they grew closer with each passing day. As Louie graduated from the academy, he began his career in Laredo, and Lizette remained in the valley as she progressed in her education and started grad school. Louie then commuted back and forth between Laredo and Hidalgo for two whole years. Though the distance between them remained their love endured. They knew that their commitment to each other was worth the effort, and they held on, knowing that one day, the distance would no longer separate them. Then, in November of 2021, Louie asked Lizette to be his forever. He proposed. Surrounded by love and family, she said yes. It wasn’t always easy, and there was a moment when they needed space to grow individually. Sometimes two people have to grow apart before they can truly fall into place together, and when they did everything clicked. The power of prayer and God's timing is always perfect.
