Question

Are there any restrictions to my stay? (Bars, restaurants, and buffets)

Answer

If you book through one of these locations; Barcelo Maya Colonial, Barcelo Maya Tropical, Barcelo Maya Caribe, Barcelo Maya Beach, you only have access to those 4 Hotel's bars, buffets, and restaurants. If you want to adventure to the buffets and restaurants in Barcelo Maya Palace or Barcelo Maya Riviera (adults only) you have to pay an additional fee listed below. Bars are restricted and cannot have access to. If you booked through Riviera you have access to the entire resort without having to pay a fee. If you booked through Palace you have access everywhere except Riviera. During your check-in the concierge will explain all the information to you: Where & what you have access to, what any additional fees would be, any reservations you would have to make, and have answers to any additional questions. Restaurant a la carte Palace: $20 per person Restaurant a la carte Riviera: $30 per person Buffet Palace: $5 per person Buffet Riviera: $10 per person

How to pay for a day pass

Answer

You will pay for a day pass in person at time of entry. It costs $115. Though cash is accepted, they highly recommend you pay with card!

Transportation within the resort

Answer

There is a free shuttle (large red double decker) that runs continuously through out the resort. If you need to wait for one, the wait time is 15-20 minutes max. The designated stops are in front of each hotel (the back faces the ocean if that helps your orientation). Refer to resort staff or map if needed.

Must bring items!

Answer

I will update this list periodically. Here are the items thus far: -Passport/ID is a MUST! -Biodegradable sunscreen or 'reef friendly' sunscreen is needed. If you do not have any luck finding some before your trip do not worry, they sell some at the resort. In addition, airlines have changed their policy and you can now bring any size bottle of sunscreen. -Photocopies of any vaccination documents, prescriptions, health insurance and trip insurance

Will it be an unplugged ceremony? How about the reception?

Yes! We ask you respect our wishes to keep your phones in your pockets and on silent. We paid our photographer to capture our moment and would like you all to sit back and cherish our moment with us. Are we available for a lunch or dinner date?

Answer

Please remember everything was planned via email and it is our time to meet with our vendors, wedding coordinator, and priest leading up to our wedding day. Please do not feel offended if we decline your invite.

Dress Code

Answer

Our ceremony and reception will range from anything from casual / dressy casual to semi- formal / formal. We want you all to feel comfortable in the heat and while dancing! **Keep in mind restaurants (excluding the buffets) do have a dress code! The dress code applies to gentlemen only. No shorts, beachwear or sandals (rubber material) or tank tops are allowed.

The resort is 50 minutes away from the airport. How does transportation work?

Answer

If you book through Apple vacations or any other travel website, they will include transportation with your purchase (unless stated otherwise). If you book through Barcelo Grand Maya directly you will have to include transportation to your final purchase. These two options are the safest and most financially friendly routes to go!

Do we have to stay at the resort to attend the ceremony and reception?

Answer

No, but you will have to purchase a day pass through the resort which you will need to bring an ID to the resort. Before excluding Barcelo Grand Maya Palace Resort as your option, I would highly recommend to read the "Things to Do" tab as it lists everything included with your stay! If you stay at an outside resort or hotel you'll have to pay a day pass of $115 the day of entry.

We're trying to book at Barcelo Maya Palace but other Barcelo options are popping up. Which do we choose?

Answer

The resort is enormous and is divided up in multiple sections. We are staying at Barcelo Maya Palace, but you can book through Barcelo Maya Colonial, Barcelo Maya Tropical, Barcelo Maya Caribe, Barcelo Maya Beach, or Barcelo Maya Riviera (adults only). They have a ginormous double decker shuttle bus that can easily get you to each spot of the resort that runs all day until late in the night. Anything related to Covid

Answer

Please be mindful our wedding is still some time away and anything can change from here till then. We will keep you all informed for any changes. You will all need to follow the CDC requirements to enter into Mexico and to return to the U.S. which may include but not limited to; -Wearing a mask (at airport, airplane, and anywhere else required to do so) -Temperature checks -Being tested 72 hours prior to departure (to Mexico &/or back home) -Being fully vaccinated 2 weeks prior to leaving the country For any additional information or concerns please visit the CDC website and your airline website. What do you recommend us to use to book our stay and flight?

Answer

We highly recommend you use a travel website to simultaneously book your hotel and flight. Expedia is a good option. We use Apple Vacation which gives you a bundle deal. You can go directly with Barcelo Maya Grand Resort as well (click on hyperlink on Travel page to go to their website). When will you have your gift registry available?

Answer

We will not. We are very appreciative of those who are able to attend our big day and do not expect any gifts. We would, however, enjoy a handmade (or store bought) card as we would love to read all your wishes and blessing for our marriage. Answer

Please allow ample amount of time to apply or renew your passport. The recommended time period is 8 weeks, but the sooner you start the process the better!
