FAQs

Here is a handful of FAQs our guests might have. If anything isn't covered, please be sure to let us know and we'll update the list!
Question

Do I really need to be fully vaccinated to attend the wedding and reception?

Answer

Yes. You do. Please and thanks.

Question

What time do I need to be where?

Answer

The wedding ceremony will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m. so please be ready to be seated no later than 1:45 p.m. The ceremony will take place at the *Gazebo Chapel* within The Flamingo Hotel & Casino gardens. The cocktail and taco bar reception will follow at the Aria Resort & Casino at 3:30 p.m. We will update this site (and likely just get in touch with everyone) when we know the exact hospitality suite room number for the reception. Due to us not wanting the Aria hotel staff to know we’re exceeding the capacity for the hospitality suite we’ve reserved, please be discreet when heading up to the room. We will need to coordinate access to the elevators with Aria room key cards, so if some of you don’t mind, we’d appreciate you staying at Aria (room block details below) so we can have an easier time getting everyone up to the reception.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The official attire designation is “Cocktail,” which usually means cocktail dresses, little-black-dresses and the like, and slacks, jackets, collared shirts and ties. Unofficially -- it’s Vegas! Have fun! Don’t want to wear a tie? Don’t! Think that fedora's working for you? Cool! I mean.. it's not, but hey, you do you! Just keep in mind that it’s a somewhat formal occasion, you’re an adult, and no one wants to show up in wedding pictures looking like a schlub. Also: It’s cold in the desert in December so be prepared! Hopefully the sun will be out and shining at 2:00 p.m., but otherwise, definitely have a coat or jacket handy!

Question

Should I drive and park at The Flamingo, or walk from my hotel, or what?

Answer

Self-parking at The Flamingo is free for the first hour and $12 for the first 4 hours (and free for guests staying at the hotel). Valet is $30 for the first 4 hours. You may elect to walk if you’re staying close, but please have your path plotted before the day of -- walking paths along The Strip are a little tricky, and once you arrive at the hotel’s entrance, it may be a few more minutes of walking inside until you get to the Gazebo Chapel. The Las Vegas Monorail (https://www.lvmonorail.com) is another option to keep in mind, with a station that drops you right off at The Flamingo and connects to several hotels along the East side of The Strip.

Question

What’s on the menu at the reception?

Answer

We’re doing a catered taco bar (with vegan and vegetarian options) courtesy of Vegas Taco Bar (vegastacobar.com) and an open booze and beer bar featuring a high end selection of bourbon along with plenty of other beverages and snacks. And I’m guessing there’s going to be a cake of some kind. They usually have that at these things, right?

Question

What's going on Friday night? Or after the reception Saturday? Or Sunday?

Answer

Friday Night: Assuming most people will be getting in to town Friday, we thought we'd try to meet up with everyone that night for some non-rehearsal dinner and drinks at The Peppermill (https://www.peppermilllasvegas.com). The menu's ginormous and the lounge is "as Vegas as Vegas gets." Time TBD Saturday Post-Reception: *Depending on how exhausted we are,* we were thinking of heading next door to The Cosmopolitan to check out The Chandelier Lounge (https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/lounges-bars/the-chandelier), Ghost Donkey (https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/restaurants/ghost-donkey), or The Barbershop Cuts and Cocktails speakeasy (https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/lounges-bars/the-barbershop-cuts-and-cocktails). Sunday: Brunch at Hash House A Go Go at The Linq (https://www.hashhouseagogo.com)! Time TBD

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We have set up room blocks at Aria and Planet Hollywood. Aria is on the more luxurious side of things, and Planet Hollywood is more of a budget option. *Both* are great hotels routinely cited for their quality and value and are centrally located on The Strip. We encourage you to find whichever hotel (or Airbnb or whatever) works best for you and your Vegas experience! But please know that if we do not have enough people to fill up the blocks at either Aria or Planet Hollywood, room costs will be subject to the daily rate of your check-in and check-out dates. Please confirm your reservations by the dates below! **And be sure to verify your check-in and check-out dates. Both links default to the check-in date, but do not specify check-out dates.** Aria (reserve by October 26th, 2021): https://book.passkey.com/go/GLAF1221 Planet Hollywood (reserve by November 10th, 2021) https://www.caesars.com/book/?propCode=PHV&action=FindRooms&groupcode=VM3LAS1

Question

UPDATE Re: Aria and Planet Hollywood Room Blocks!

Answer

We are extending the room blocks at Aria and Planet Hollywood from Friday & Saturday to Thursday through Sunday in case you want to come or stay an extra day (or two). Both room blocks should be updated and available for booking by 10/14/2021.

Question

How long are the lines in Las Vegas for just about everything?

Answer

Long. If there are any restaurants or shows you want to check out while you're in town, be sure to make reservations and buy tickets well in advance!

Question

Do I always bet on black?

Answer

If life or fictional movie characters portrayed by Wesley Snipes have taught me anything, it’s that, yes, you always bet on black.

Question

Are either/both of you familiar with the phrase "a roll of the dice," and did it ever cross your mind/s before printing off those wedding invitations?

Answer

Yes. We are. And it did. Separately. We each had our own private laugh about it and then talked to each other and decided it was kind of funny, so we just kept it.
