We met online through a dating app, like so many modern love affairs. Liz carefully scanned his profile checking for compatibility, while Taka left it all to chance and liked everyone, only checking after matching. We quickly met up for ramen and karaoke, which led to Oreo cheesecake at his favorite cafe and several more dates. Finally, we drove to a small beach near where he was living and became official.

We had never really celebrated Valentine's Day, but since it fell on a weekend and Taka had to work, Liz decided to make a special dinner and a cheesecake to do something romantic.
