We met once or twice through Scott's brother, Alex, but didn't think too much of it. Then New Year's Eve of 2017, Alex had a party at his apartment, which just so happened to be right below mine. I was, of course, invited, as was Scott. We saw each other again, but this time something more clicked. We chatted about jobs, he was interested in possibly starting a teaching career, and I, being a teacher, gave him my phone number so we could connect again. He reached out to me shortly after the party and we had a date scheduled a few days after that. We had a great time chatting and getting to know each other better, and quickly realized that this could be something real. I am so glad we were right. He proposed the following year on a bike ride (something we love doing together) in Richmond near the James River. It was such a beautiful summer day where we found a gorgeous spot that looked over the water. He said the entire time we were riding bikes, he was desperately trying to figure out how he was going to manage to discretely get down on one knee and pop the question. Well, just as fate would have it, I decided that I needed a picture of the scenery, so I hopped off my bike and began taking pictures. He was still behind me at this point, so I asked him if he wanted to come take a picture with me, which was when he responded with, "Nah, I'm good," which definitely took me back for a second. I responded by asking him why and as I turned around, I found him on one knee. It couldn't have been more perfect. We are so beyond excited/blessed to begin this journey of a lifetime together.
