The day started just as any other, I woke up, lounged around for a few hours in my underwear before deciding what to eat that morning before work. Little did I know today would change the rest of my life. Per usual I was scheduled to clean that fine morning, after running out of paper towel it was time to replenish my stock. I walked into the breakroom and quickly realized I didnt know a single soul and was surrounded by weirdos. Subconciously I began to hum a song called “people are strange” by the band The Doors, (Liz’s favorite band) as I grabbed my paper towels. As i made my way for the exit she asked “are you singing what I think youre singing?” I simply replied “No, im humming” and walked out the door. This is the beginning of the story of how i met my wife!
Its September and Florida was being terrorized by its 5th hurricane of the season which by all resident members of the state was just business as usually but something was different about this particular hurricane. Estimates say it will hit at a 3, no 4, now a category 5 hurricane it is starting to look a little scary now. We are boarding up our windows and buying provisions to last us through the weekend. Since Michael and I both work for a grocery store we are amoung the last business to close. We pack our things and drive to my sister Kelly’s home where we’ve decided to ride out the storm. We are moving luggage, water, flashlights, the dog, even a heavy generator around making sure everything is in its place before the storm hits. Tensions are high in the house as no one really knows what we are in store for later that night. We go out to the car to do our last trip retrieving the gatorade and then it happens. Michael turns to me and says i think there is one more box left in the car as he holds two large packs of gateraid. I at this point am admittedly tired and cranky, tell him there is nothing left in the car i’ve checked myself, now pass me a gateraid pack and i’ll help him take them in. He insists again no theres one more box i think its under the seat. I at this point angerly sink down under the seat disgusted that he packed a box under the seat in the first place, grab hold of the white box and pull it out. I dont recognize it and ask him what it is. He says open it. I open the big white box and find a small red ring box tucked inside. I look over at Michael and he is down on one knee and he says “Will you Marry Me? To my surprise he had planned it out and had been waiting for the perfect time to ask. I quickly said yes and got the ring onto my finger and with out skipping a beat i then said “now give me a fucking gatorade.” And we walked back to the house.
