Liz and Julian’s story began during Liz’s senior year of high school, in the middle of the fall play, The Ghost of Rhodes Manor. Liz’s castmate and longtime friend told her there was someone she wanted her to meet. She invited him to the show, and the introduction happened after the curtain closed. Liz was brief and awkward; but somehow, he still asked for her number. From there, they started texting and meeting up with friends at Pete’s Burgers, the little spot next to her high school. Their “first unofficial date” was over a shared plate of chili fries, which quickly became one of their many food traditions. Liz eventually asked him to be her prom date, and the rest is history. From the start, they bonded over two big loves: food and the arts. He’s a big movie buff (and a Guillermo Del Toro enthusiast), and Liz is a musical theater fan (always making her case for the genius of Lin-Manuel Miranda). They can both quote their favorite childhood movie, Cats Don’t Dance, from start to finish and will happily ramble about it to anyone who will listen. Years later, their shared love of creativity, adventure, and good food continues to bring them closer—and it all started with a play, some friends, and a plate of chili fries.
