Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

There’s not a dress code per se, so feel free to express yourself and have fun with your outfit! That funky blazer that’s been in the back of the closet? Dust it off! That dress you bought that still has the tags because you weren’t sure where to wear it? This is the place. If you want some inspiration, feel free to google Coachella or boho fashion! For those that like more clear direction, “dressy casual” is probably a good category. You can’t go wrong with a dress and flats or boots & a button-up. You may dress however you like, but comfortable shoes are a must! There is uneven terrain and it’s about a 200 yard walk from the driveway to the lake where we’ll have the party, so you’ll want to wear flat and preferably close-toed shoes. (There will be an off-road vehicle to transport guests that cannot walk down to the party). It’s also a good idea to bring a jacket, as the temperature will drop after the sun sets.

Question

What does “Westival” mean?

Answer

Westival = wedding + festival! Liz and Jason love music festivals and decided it would be the perfect reception theme. There will be live music, games, fireworks, and some other fun surprises. The happy couple has created wonderful memories over the years by traveling all over the world to attend festivals and gatherings including Furnace Fest, Okeechobee, Self Help Fest, Hulaween, Riot Fest, Burning Man and many more! The Westival will be the 2nd fest held on this property. Liz, Jason, and a team of friends put together a music festival over the Pandemic called Electric Lady Land, which drew out hundreds of guests to camp out for 3 days of socially-distanced music, art, and wellness. This Westival weekend is sure to add to the good vibes and wonderful memories collecting on this land!

Question

What should I know about the event?

Answer

It will be an outdoor, lakeside event.. so be sure to dress comfortably and prepare to walk and dance on uneven terrain. You may want to bring a jacket in case it gets chilly after the sun sets or an umbrella if rain is in the forecast. There will be live music from Swim in the Wild (a rock band) and Pip the Pansy (a pop artist), as well as DJs late into the night with dance-worthy house beats from Lex Longa and some surprise guests. We will be serving up beer, wine and a signature cocktail as well as fresh BBQ and stone-cooked pizzas made on site. If you have a favorite beverage or dietary restrictions/food allergies… feel free to BYO or send the bride or groom a note so we can accommodate your needs! There will be portable toilets and a hand washing station on site. For those with mobility issues, there will be an all terrain vehicle to transport guests from the driveway to the party. No need to bring a gift - your presence is present enough!

Question

Where is the venue?

Answer

8700 Dixie Drive Charlotte, NC 27604 Liz & Jason lived on this beautiful 30-acre property with a 6-acre private lake for nearly 2 years with Emily Nolan, the landowner and their close friend. Over the pandemic, Liz and Jason were able to spend more time together on the farm building, exploring, and getting even closer as the world slowed down. This is a very special and magical place with a lot of beautiful memories for the bride & groom! Getting there: Sometimes the GPS likes to take folks on West Dixie, but they do not connect! You can only turn onto Dixie drive from Mt. Olive Church Road. There is parking along the circle driveway and gravel road. Guests can walk down to the party area or get a ride via off-road vehicle. Because it’s less than 10 minutes from the airport, it’s easy to use ride share such as Lyft and Uber. Please do not drink and drive!!

Question

What is the closest airport?

Answer

CLT - Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, North Carolina

Question

What’s the deal with camping?

Answer

There is lots of space for tent camping and campers may stay Friday - Sunday if they’d like! There will be portable toilets, a water source and fire pits. If you plan to camp, we advise setting up before the event by 4PM if you will need help transporting your stuff down to the lake. Theme camps encouraged!
