The park's elevation means that it can be as much as 10 degrees colder in the park than it is down on the ground in Luray, VA. So it's always a good idea to be prepared for cooler weather or rain.
For the ceremony, "dressy comfortable" is the term we're going with. For women, this could be a summer dress and comfortable shoes, or it could also be dressier if you'd like. A note for people who are considering high heels: The ceremony is happening on a cement terrace, and afterwards we’ll take a 15-minute walk along a paved path down a hill to the reception area. If you can navigate all that in heels, feel free (Liz will personally give you a high five!). We’ll also have some people with cars who can drive people down to the reception area, too. For men, pants or nice jeans with a collared shirt. Tie and jacket optional, cargo pants of any kind discouraged.
We love Shenandoah National Park, but their room reservation process can sometimes be a bit challenging. If you have any problems at all with making your room reservation, give Nicole Reynolds a call at 540-843-2100, ext. 1023 and she can help you out!
Please us know as soon as you can if you plan to come, and for which nights. Also let us know if there are any folks you’d like to share a cabin with (if you go with that option), and if you’ll need a ride from the airport/may want to go in on a rental car with others. We'll also be looking for people to provide rides to and from the Friday welcome barbecue, which will be held at a campsite three miles away from Skyland, as well as from the ceremony location to the reception area on Saturday, which is a three-minute drive. If you're willing to help with either of these things, please let us know!
