We met through our mutual friend, Hinge, on a fateful day in June 2021. Hinge set us up at a subpar Irish pub in Astoria where we spent 5 hours talking about plants, anime, Runescape, and laughing. The pub (disturbingly) put Guinness draft into plastic cups. Disgusting. Despite that, we fell in love in Queens, moved in together in Washington Heights a year later, and adopted the moldiest chihuahua mix, Flan, soon after. Ernesto begrudgingly became a stepdad to Yuri and Mochi, and Ernesto introduced Liz to the world of orchids, which has easily taken over their life. Today we live together in beautiful, sunny Chicago, Illinois while Ernesto becomes a real doctor (PhD) of Genetics and Liz does therapy with teenagers who think she is cringe. The rest is history, baby.
On our second anniversary, with the help of our very best friends Jenna and Kara (and Ernesto's family, who secretly hid the ring at their home while Liz tried to find it behind the toilet and under the bed in the apartment, unsuccessfully) Ernesto proposed with an original song in front of a statue of Socrates in Astoria where we had our first kiss at a little over 2 years prior. Then a lady asked to borrow Ernesto's guitar and we were like, sure, okay that's fine, but a little weird. Check out the video above of the song!!!!! Cry!!! It's beautiful!!!
