Our story began with a hesitant swipe on OK Cupid, ignoring each other's "hello" message for a week, and countless 5 hour long conversations led to a first date under the hilariously dismal glow of a Christmas light show called "Tinsel." What could have been awkward instead sparked laughter and an unexpected connection. But it was on the roaring track of a go-kart course, amidst the thrill of the race and the playful competition, that the true acceleration of our hearts began. We saw a different kind of spark in each other's eyes, a shared joy in the moment that revealed to us both the future we wanted to create. Our lives intertwined naturally, a comfortable rhythm forming as we built a home filled with shared laughter and companionship. We introduced our pets. Mojito was smitten. Butterscotch was taken aback. We all fell. It was then we knew this was something truly special. Douglas proposed in July in the beautiful city of Antigua, Guatemala, surrounded by family. Of course, the ring was upside-down. Of course, Liz still said yes. The family and strangers looking on shouted and cheered, "Viva el amor!" From the questionable charm of "Tinsel" to the exhilarating rush of the racetrack and the unprecedented approval of a very picky feline, our journey has been a testament to finding love in the most unexpected of places, a love that continues to grow with each passing day, each purr, and each happy wagging tail.
