Sideways is a 2004 American comedy-drama road film directed by Alexander Payne and written by Jim Taylor and Payne. The plot follows two friends as they embark upon a bachelor party weekend in the San Ynez Valley wine region. You will notice many of the movie landmarks including the Hitching Post restaurant are still around, though a lot has changed and developed in the past 20 years.
This is our favorite winery in the region. We first visited in October 2019, four months after we started dating. We love their old-world style wines and joined their members club and visit quarterly to pick up our latest shipment. This is a bit off the beaten path and features a lovely European-style patio where you may bring a picnic and enjoy a tasting. Reservations required - mention Charlie and Liz if you plan to go!
In addition to recommending for a splurge accommodation option, the resort is worth stopping by to see for a bite before or after wedding festivities.
