Eastern Market
So much more than your traditional Farmers Market! The markets are open Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday. The Sunday market is our favorite and showcases the work of local artists, cooks, jewelers, musicians and more. This markets is the perfect chance to discover items that are uniquely Detroit and Michigan made.
Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit
If contemporary art Is your thing, this is a "must not miss" museum. It is a super quick trip on the Q-Line from downtown.
Detroit Institute of Arts
Located in the Cultural Center Historic District of Detroit near MOCAD. Another quick trip on the Q-Line from downtown. You could spend a whole day here and just skim the surface. Make sure to check out the Detroit Industry Murals by Diego Rivera.
Honest John's
It is a great late night spot around the corner from where we live in Midtown. Breakfast is served all day and it does not dissapoint.
Iggy's Eggies
Great walk up window for breakfast sandwiches and burgers in Capital Park.
Cannelle Detroit
The best spot for creative desserts and croissants. Liz's favorites are the blueberry cream cheese and pastrami with gruyere. They are to to die for. The giant macarons are amazing as well. Cannelle will not disappoint, but be forewarned, a trip here can hurt your wallet.
Avalon Café and Bakery
Amazing sandwiches and relatively close to the hotel. Avalon is know for their organic artisan breads and vegan treats.
Warda Pâtisserie
Great French cafe located in Midtown. The coffee and quiche are excellent!
Sister Pie
A Detroit legend! Some of the best pie and baked goods in Detroit.
City Bird & Nest Housewares
Sister stores located on Canfield St. in Midtown. Great spots for gifts and Detroit/Michigan made products.
Campus Martius Park
There is always something happening in Campus Martius Park. It is a great place to hang out, grab a drink and do some shopping. Centrally located, and it is also a great meeting space.
Parkers Alley
Cool spot for local shopping, coffee and snack. Also, has lots of photo ops.
Detroit Riverwalk
A great place to run or walk along the Detroit Riverfront. It has been completely rehabbed in the last 7 years and is really a spectacular place to get some fresh air. Access just steps from the Red Cen.
Belle Isle
Belle Isle Park is a 982-acre island park located in Detroit with historic, environmental, and cultural resources that have been beloved for generations. The park is home to the Belle Isle Aquarium, Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, Dossin Great Lakes Museum, Belle Isle Nature Center, the James Scott Memorial Fountain, and more! It is a great place to hang out at the beach and swim.
Comerica Park
The home of the Detroit Tigers. If you find yourself with a couple of spare hours go check out a game!
