DC has some great food and Alex and I are avid followers of the Washingtonian's Top 100 Restaurants list! We may or may not keep a running list of where we've been.... Lucky for anyone staying at the LINE DC, there are many very closeby (Tail Up Goat #5, Bad Saint #16, Thip Khao #50, Mintwood #91, Johnny's Half-shell #97).
If you'd like to see a key part of our history, stop by El Rey for a margarita or two. This is where we met in May 2014. I can't vouch for the food, but the drinks are good!
This is Alex's favorite park in the city. It sits right in between Adams Morgan (where I lived in May 2014) and Columbia Heights (where Alex lived in May 2014). After we met, we spent a lot of time walking back and forth and passing through this park.
Anxo is a local cider and pintxos bar built in a restored row home and has a large patio area for nice days (like May!). You'll have to uber here if you're staying anywhere near Adams Morgan, but it's well worth the ride. It's got a great neighborhood feel to it and is one of Liz's favorite places to grab a drink in the city.
Looking for breakfast or brunch after a late (or early) night? This is a favorite spot to grab a quick bite to eat--breakfast, brunch, or lunch. We used to live right next door and could frequently be found waiting in the long line (it moves fast and you get your food right after you order!). For those not in the breakfast or lunch mood, they also have pizza night on Thursdays and Fridays along with a live jazz band. Right next door to A Baked Joint is it's sister restaurant, La Betty--it's full service and only serves dinner, but it's also worth checking out!
Maketto is another restaurant on Washingtonian's Top 100 List coming in at #46. It is located on H Street, where we lived for three years. It combines retail, restaurant and cafe experiences. The outdoor area is incredible and the whole fish is one of our favorite dishes in DC!
We are avid Barry's fans and somehow moved to Charlotte at the same time it did! Come here for a great workout to prepare for or pay for all of the food and drinks from the weekend. This is the first studio we went to after Julia made us one Christmas since she was so obsessed with it in LA.
Union Market is a favorite DC place of mine and is a great place to grab a bite (or two!). Not only is it a great place to go for any meal (there's a food hall and restaurants all around), it is also where we got engaged!
Hands down the best tacos in DC. We were frequent visitors of the restaurant before they served alcohol, but now you can even get a margarita with your meal. My favorite dish is the huaraches, which comes with cactus leaves on top. It is so good!
This is included in the Washingtonian's Top 100 list, but it deserves it's own mention. We went here for our first date for brunch! It's nearby the LINE DC, and highly recommended for brunch or dinner!
