Liza and Roland met in September 2022 at a friend’s birthday party, a moment neither of them knew would change the course of their lives. Eleven months later, they found themselves working out at the same gym (s/o to Koyano Weightlifting), where a lighthearted gym competition sparked something neither could ignore. What began as playful rivalry soon turned into daily conversations, intentional Sunday evening walks, and first dates- including a memorable Dodger game where Liza proudly understood 0% of what was happening, but 100% of who she wanted to be sitting next to. Over time, their relationship deepened as they celebrated graduations, birthdays, and countless ordinary moments that became extraordinary simply because they were shared together. Most importantly, they grew not only in love, but in faith- drawing closer to one another and to God, surrounded by their Koin Church community. On December 28th, at the very park where so many of their Sunday walks had taken place, Roland asked Liza to marry him and she said YES. They are overjoyed to begin this next chapter, entering into covenant, hand in hand, rooted in love and faith.
