Montauk is the furthest town east on Long Island, located 118 miles from NYC. We recommend traveling to the area by car if possible. Otherwise, the Long Island Rail Road services Montauk & so does the Hampton Jitney with limited schedules daily. Traffic going east towards Montauk can add significant travel time onto your trip. Due to September still being considered peak season in Montauk, many hotels impose a 2 night minimum stay on the weekends. There is one property listed below that allows for a one night stay for those that are interested.

Uber, lyft and taxis service the area. The local taxi services include Pink Tuna Taxi, 668 MTK Taxi LLC & Surf Taxi.
Flight
NYC has tons of airports, however the closest option is MacArthur airport in Islip, NY which is located about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Montauk. JFK & LGA are about 2 hours and 30 minutes away from Montauk.
Train
The Long Island Railroad services Montauk from NYC (Penn Station, Grand Central Station and Jamaica Station) and from one station on Long Island (Speonk). Please look into the schedule ahead of time as there are only a few trains per day that make the trip all of the way out to Montauk. You can fly into JFK, then take the air train to Jamaica and from there catch the train to Montauk which takes about 3 hours.
