We found love in a hopeless place, well almost. We met at a frat party at San Diego State University in 2008. Jillian had just moved back down to San Diego after living back home for the summer. She decided to meet up with some friends and go out to SDSU's finest fraternity, Sig Ep. There she met Michael serving drinks from his beautiful, handmade bar. She couldn't take her eyes off him the whole night. Being the gentleman he is, at the end of the night, Michael walked Jillian home and wished her a good night. They continued to be friends for a few months until Jillian dropped the craziest ultimatum, "Date me or never see me again." Lucky for him, Michael chose the former.
We had originally planned to go to Tulum for our 11th anniversary in March 2020, however, COVID changed our plans. Luckily we were able to reschedule for September and had an amazing time. Our hotel was gorgeous and the view was spectacular. On the third night, Jillian wanted to take sunset pictures on the rooftop of our hotel room before heading out to dinner. Thankfully Michael was prepared with a tripod and a camera set with a timer. After the fourth time trying to get a postable picture, Michael dropped to his knee and asked Jillian to marry him.
