FAQs

Question

What is the Torpedo Factory?

Answer

The Torpedo Factory Art Center is the former U.S. Naval Torpedo Station, a naval munitions factory on the banks of the Potomac River in Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia, which was converted into an art center in 1974. The facility is located at 105 North Union Street, near the eastern end of King Street. There are 3 levels and guests are permitted to explore all three during the reception. The ceremony and reception will be held on the first floor, and the cocktail hour will be held on the third floor.

Question

Is there Parking?

Answer

Paid parking is available at Colonial Parking garage (Lot 183, 102 N. Union St.) and on nearby streets. Limited free parking is available in residential areas (2-hour limit). Parking is free after 9 pm, on Sundays, and City holidays. Handicapped permit holders park free at any meter. Reserved spaces at the venue are for vendors only.

Question

How do I enter the Torpedo Factory

Answer

There are two entrances into the Venue: The Union Street Entrance facing the street and the Waterfront entrance that can be accessed from the boardwalk. The Vendors will be primarily using the Union Street Entrance so we do recommend walking around and coming through the boardwalk side.

Question

What is a continuous cocktail hour?

Answer

Instead of a formal sit down dinner, guests will come down to the ground floor after cocktail hour where several food stations will be ready to go with food. Think handheld foods that are easy to eat while standing and mingling (don't worry there will be a LOT of food, you will not leave hungry). There will still be plenty of seating but no seat assignments for guests. Several tables will be reserved for our older loved ones, while other seats and high tops will be for guests to intermittently sit, eat, and rest. Seating will be available on floors 1 and 2.

Question

Do I have to walk up and down all these stairs?!

Answer

There are elevators as well as stairs to get between the floors

Question

Is there an open bar?

Answer

Of course

Question

Do I have a plus one?

Answer

All plus-ones are specified on your invitation. Sean and I have had to make a lot of difficult decisions regarding our guest list, so we kindly ask that you RSVP only for those listed on the invitation. Feel free to reach out if you'd like to bring a guest and we will do our best!
