"Something Beautiful"

Musical Harmony

Devin and Lauren met each other in high school during their freshmen year English class. They were assigned to the same group for a project, and immediately connected over Devin's Beatles shirt and out a mutual love of music. After being friends for a few months and attending a school play that Lauren was working spotlight on, they went on their first date to the movies. They had a fantastic night and Devin asked Lauren to be his girlfriend on November 13th, 2009. From there they spent every moment that they could together both in and out of school. Spending days in Tyler Park, sharing music with one another, going out and trying all different kinds of food, and just plain hanging out. It was nothing short of bliss! Neither one ever had someone where their presence alone could bring happiness. They were inseparable.

The Proposal

First comes school, then comes marriage!

Fast forward over nine years, they live together in downtown Pittsburgh. It was the perfect place, with so much to do and see! Devin purchased the perfect ring from jewelers in their apartment building, and had several ideas on how to propose to Lauren. However, she knew him far too well and managed to predict when he would propose for any idea! Devin refused to let her know any surprises, so he threw out every idea and started from scratch. Valentine's Day was less than a week away, and while Devin was against proposing on holidays or birthdays, he decided it would be the perfect time, as she would never expect it! He prepared a special dinner for them and gave Lauren her present. It was a beautiful wooden hand mirror with positive words written on the mirror. The words represented what Devin thought when he looked at Lauren. He positioned himself so that she could see him in the reflection, and pretended that a word supposed to be on the mirror was forgotten. When Lauren asked what, Devin got down on one knee, said "my wife", and asked the question. SHE SAID YES!!!
