It all started in their Sophomore year Social Studies class at Carey High School. Jillian was sitting in the back of the classroom with her friends, while Maurizio getting in trouble (shocker) was asked to move to the back of the classroom. He sat right alongside Jillian and began making clapping noises to get Jillian's attention. While looking confused, Jillian asked what he was doing. He jokingly said there were ants on his desk and that he was trying to remove them. A year later, after many Franklin Square fairs, movie dates, and Hurricane Sandy hangouts, on September 14th, 2012 Maurizio asked Jillian to be his girlfriend. To come to find out two years later... there were really NO ants on Maurizio's desk and instead, Maurizio was looking for an excuse to begin talking to Jillian... and well it worked!

After graduating from high school, being separated every summer while Maurizio played travel baseball around the country, attending different colleges, Maurizio waiting for Jillian to finish graduate school, and finally, Jillian awaiting Maurizio to graduate from the NYPD Police Academy, on September 19th, 2021, 9 years later... Maurizio FINALLY asked Jillian to marry him! The special day took place on a beautiful sunny Sunday at Westbury Gardens on a cobblestone path overlooking the rose garden, alongside a few of Jillian and Maurizio's bestfriends, which evidently turned out to be the photographers of the special moment.
