We love a body of water, and our town sits between two. If the weather is favorable, we'd recommend walking along Fowler Lake (it's a nice 2 mile loop), relaxing on the boardwalk on Fowler, or kayaking on Lac La Belle (you can rent kayaks from Sherpers in town).
If you want a little souvenir from this weekend, check out the many boutiques downtown - Livi's favorites are Harbour for home goods, Wood Station Co-op for gifts, and Fray for clothes. We also love grabbing ice cream at Whelan's, coffee at Roots, and a bloody mary at Etcetera. And while you're walking around, follow the yellow brick road to statues commemorating the Wizard of Oz (why are they there, you ask? That's for us to know and you to find out).
A gorgeous cocktail lounge in the Mon Bijou, a historic mansion turned boutique hotel. If you come in for drink, odds are you'll end up making friends with a bridesmaid or groomsman, as this is where the bride and groom and entire wedding party are staying!
Hike and enjoy the fall colors at this state forest, southeast of Oconomowoc. There's a variety of trails you can stroll on, and we recommend making your way up to the observation tower.
What Jon truly loves most about our house is that it's located a mere four minutes away from this old school meat and deli. It’s got meat, meat, and more meat, plus some amazing homemade desserts. And like all good no-frills establishments, it’s cash only!
This Mediterranean spot is where Jon and I toasted over our decision to buy our house and move here to Oconomowoc!
If you love wine, definitely go here. If you don't love wine...well, still go here because the food's great too! When in doubt, ask the staff for their wine recommendations and they'll let you sample a few (or five).
