Why We Changed Our Wedding Date

We had our wedding all planned out—until life surprised us in the best way possible! We found out we’re expecting a baby girl just weeks before our original wedding date! 💕 As exciting as it is to get ready for our big day, we realized we needed to adjust our plans so we could fully enjoy welcoming our little one. After thinking it over, we decided to move the wedding to a date that would give us a little more time to prepare for both the big day and the even bigger arrival of our daughter. We’re so grateful for everyone’s love and support as we go through this exciting (and slightly unexpected!) adventure. We can't wait to celebrate with all of you as we start this next chapter—both as a couple and soon-to-be parents!

Our Story

Taylor and I met in 2019 while we were both working at HNI. Lucky for me, her department had run out of seats, and I had an empty desk right across the aisle from me. For the next two months I had the pleasure of seeing her and getting to know her every single day. The only issue was we never talked. During those two months we had two brief conversations: one about our Vegas experiences and one about the St. Louis Cardinals. Then suddenly, she moved on to her next role and the desk across from me was empty once again. Luck would have it that both Taylor and I volunteered for HNI Day at the University of Iowa two months later. We talked more that day than we did the whole time we were seated so closely, which was mostly about my trip the following day to Europe with some of my friends. On my way home from the University, I got a text on my work phone from a number I did not recognize. Being the resourceful soul that she is, she decided to reach out to me on a number she could find in our work directory since I do not have a social media presence that she could contact me through. That was the gist of her message along with a suggestion that we grab a coffee sometime when I got back to the States. To answer your question, no I have zero shame in admitting that Taylor made the first move. We did get that coffee and later that same week decided to go on our first official date. I had jokingly mentioned going down to St. Louis for the Cardinals playoff series, and to my surprise Taylor was all in. Although the Cardinals lost both games we went to, we were enjoying each other’s company too much to really care. That was the start of us spending more and more time with one another. Then COVID hit. Honestly, it was easy for us to get really close during that period, we were either spending time together at the house I was renting in Iowa City or at her apartment in Muscatine. At the time I had a young golden retriever named Lucy. With everything being shut down and us being home, she was always by our side wherever we were (Taylor would never admit it but I think Lucy was the main reason she wanted to spend time with me). Fast forward to June of 2020 when I bought a house in Muscatine. We have been together there ever since that first night. Then in January of 2021 we added our second four-legged baby Lola. The four of us have made so many memories; from a hiking in Denver, to seeing the Arch in St. Louis, there are not many places we would go without our girls. We could not be more excited for what our future holds together as a family
