Our Beginning

Swiping Right

It all started with a swipe to the right. Within a few days, Alan's charm and wit secured Monica's phone number. The constant romantic, Alan picked the most magical weekend for a first date...Veteran's Day. Nonetheless, Alan thought it was a wise idea to have brunch at Wise Café and Monica agreed only if coffee was included in a wine glass. Obviously things went really well and more dates followed. Three weeks later, which was Monica's birthday, Alan surprised her with a reservation to her favorite restaurant. At the moment she was head over heels for Alan (Alan wrote this part). After this dinner, Alan asked Monica to be his girlfriend. She said "OK". Both restaurants in this story are now closed but memories are forever. We're looking forward to making more memories together forever and ever and ever.

The Proposal

Oops I dropped the ring

Thanks COVID for accelerating our relationship! During quarantine/lockdown, Alan and Monica finally moved in together. That was fun! Through adventures of hunting for toilet paper, hand sanitizer, masks, and avoiding the public in supermarkets, Alan and Monica became partners in crime. This brought them closer together and helped their love to bloom even more. On yet another romantic day in keeping with the theme, Memorial Day, Alan chose to propose. His original plans were literally washed out by rain so Plan B it was. Alan and Monica embarked on another adventure this time to Brooklyn Bridge Park. After getting pizza, they went in the search for some ice cream. Alan asked to walk back to a certain spot in the park near one of these ice cream shops. Monica became suspicious but went with it because she really wanted that ice cream. They sat down to eat the ice cream and Alan started getting mushy with all sorts of sentiments. Monica instantly knew what was up and started giggling but wouldn't say why. Alan asked her to walk over to an enclave of the park that she mentioned earlier was her favorite part because it was the only one where flowers were blooming. There were kids running around in that enclave which made Alan upset. He walked over to their dad (Monica knew what was up then and there) and asked the dad to move his kids for a few minutes. Alan got down on one knee, the ring fell onto the ground as soon as he opened the box, and asked Monica to marry him. She was crying but the first thing she said was, "Did you just drop my ring after you told me for months that I may absolutely not do that!?!?!" Then she followed that with "Yes!" while vigorously nodding her head because at this point she was bawling tears of joy. They went by the water to take some selfies, called their families, and ta da! Now we're here! :)
