We met at Johnson & Wales culinary school through a best friend of ours. It was bar crawl weekend in Charlotte, so Josh being 21 was of course a little drunk. However, he was also sitting a desk shift due to the fact he was a residential advisor (RA for short). My friend, also being an RA, was coming to cover his shift when we all decided to sit with her for a while. Josh and I got to talking and instantly felt we had a connection. By this point I had ordered Chinese food and, for whatever reason, they gave me a HUGE box of rice prompting Josh to ask me for some. So, of course, I obliged, jokingly bringing up the fact I'm a terrible cook and I secretly came to a culinary school to find a chef for a husband and he said," Well I'll take one for the team!". A week later, after realizing we were somehow the best of friends, he asked me on one of the best dates of my life, and well, the rest is history!
Hello... 03.20.2015 Will You? 12.16.2017 I Do! 11.15.2019
So every year his family does Secret Santa for Christmas since there are so many of us now and his mom, Vicki, had picked me this year. After we had all exchanged our gifts we were just sitting around and chatting when his mom gets up and tells me she forgot one more gift. I was thinking there's no way she did because everything she had given me definitely went to, if not over, the budget. She handed me a card and, with confusion written all over my face, I open it to find a little tree filled with owls. At the bottom she wrote, "Welcome to the family". I looked up at her and see tears in her eyes as she went to hug me. At this point I'm still not clueing in as I look over her shoulder at Josh and mouth, "What's going on?" It only dawns on me, as he's pulling the little box out of his pocket, that he's proposing. I immediately burst into tears as he gets down on one knee and he can't get the words out because he's crying too. I jokingly said no and I hear his family laughing, but I started nodding and, for whatever reason, asked if he was sure, which prompted more tear filled laughs.
