Jordan and Meghan met at a friend's birthday party at Piece Brewery & Pizzeria in Wicker Park (Chicago). Jordan arrived first and, after seeing Meghan sit in an open seat at the end of table, asked the host of the party (shout-out to Kevin Finlon) how he could switch to a seat across from her. The two instantly hit it off and talked most of the evening (and friended each other on Facebook, as true millennials do). Two months later, Jordan and Meghan started dating. Seven months after that, Jordan’s company asked him to relocate to Houston. The two knew they had something special and moved to Texas together!
Meghan is observant and curious, and Jordan knew he would have to build a blurred labyrinth to mask the proposal if it were to be a surprise. So, in early March of 2019, Jordan set his plan in motion to give Meghan her dream proposal. First was the mention of a realistic yet bogus work trip to Meghan’s home city: Chicago. Jordan traveled there for meetings from time to time, so the trip was plausible. Second was a hoax schedule change by his boss — the fake meeting was moved from Wednesday, May 8th to Friday, May 10th. Third was the persuading realization that the trip now aligned with Mother’s Day weekend, and, coincidently, Jordan’s 28th birthday. Meghan jumped at the idea to fly to Chicago on Friday, meet up with Jordan, and spend Mother’s Day with her mom. Once in Chicago, Meghan suggested that they eat lunch at Piece Brewery & Pizzeria, walk around Wicker Park and Logan Square, and grab a cocktail before dinner at Joy District (where the couple had their first date and going-away party). Little did Meghan know that she was laying out a red carpet for the evening. After the cocktail at Joy District, they walked along the river near Michigan Avenue. Surprise #1: Jordan dropped to a knee! After taking photos with the photographer Jordan had hired to capture Meghan's reaction, the couple went to BLVD in West Loop for dinner. (BLVD is a modern glam restaurant that draws inspiration from Hollywood’s Sunset Blvd circa 1950.) Surprise #2: Meghan’s family was already there with champagne to celebrate. After dinner, Meghan and Jordan walked a couple blocks to Federales for drinks. Surprise #3: About 30 of their friends were already there. People tend to remember things best in groups of three, and it was a day Meghan (and Jordan) will never forget.
The pandemic threw a wrench in Jordan and Meghan's plans to have a big wedding in 2020, but they decided to get married in a small ceremony on their original date and host a celebration with their friends and family at a safer time. They can't wait to see everyone in May 2022!
