First Born
Liv adopted Zasha from a pop-up adoption event in a Baton Rouge Pet Smart in 2010: Cat Haven at https://www.cathaven.org. He was rescued from a dumpster before being fostered and then finding his forever friend in Liv. Zasha loves to sing, advocate for regular feeding schedules, and is the figurehead monarch of our gaggle of cats. While yielding no formal power, he sets a strong precedent of mutual aid and kindness for the cat and human residents of our home.
The Queen
Anya was adopted from the Animal Human Society in Minnesota by Liv in 2014. Liv and Anya had a connection that was obvious from the moment they sat next to each other. Anya is a firm yet benevolent queen-regent and is the true power behind the throne. Always wearing her formal wear, she ensures order and fidelity to community standards with her watchfulness and occasional chastising. After 10 pm, she turns into a total cuddle bug.
God of Revolution
Dio, short for Dionysus, is the god of social revolution and the breaking of oppressive, patriarchal systems. He has been in Yosef's stewardship since being adopted from the Animal Care Centers of NYC (www.nycacc.org). Little did they know in 2019 that they would spend A LOT of time with each other during the pandemic. Since moving in with the Andersons in 2022, Dio has been agitating for social revolution, the end of the "outdated" monarchial system of governance, and the establishment of the dictator of the proletariat.
Flower Girl
After Nadja's mother was murdered, Nadja was rescued by - literally - Santa Claus in 2020. Unfortunately, the adoption agency that Liv adopted Nadja from no longer exists. Maybe it was Santa all along? She has endless kitten energy and loves playing with her housemates. While agreeing that there needs to be a formal constitution and legislative body to balance the power of the arbitrary monarchy, she is opposed to social revolution.
