231 days from first date to proposal...Charlie and Lissie met on a Wednesday in Jersey City, NJ at a Caribbean restaurant named Harry's Daughter. They connected quickly over their same love for music as they jammed to the Bill Wither's covers being played directly behind them (both unaware that live music was even playing that night). Charlie initially was attracted to her hug-first attitude, huge smiling face, and loving personality, which everyone can easily tell within minutes of meeting her. Lissie was attracted to Charlie's sly smile, calming presence, and confirmation that chivalry isn't dead. As the first date came to a close, a spark was ignited as they walked and continued to chat on their way to Charlie's "nice truck," (as she would later tell to her friends). After many visits back to Jersey City a stronger bond was made. Flash forward to April of the following Spring. Charlie, with the help of some friends and family, orchestrated the biggest surprise Lissie was ever going to receive. Christina, (Lissie’s longtime friend who lives in Jersey City) made plans for them to hangout in JC on a Wednesday. Lissie, who can’t say no to wine/pizza and truly cherishes time spent with her friends, gladly accepted. This wasn't the first thing Charlie had in motion. With a couple tricks and some little white lies, he got her on time and in transit when she needed to be. Timing was of the essence if this plan was going to go smoothly. As Lissie and Charlie traveled from SP to JC, Christina canceled wine/pizza with Lissie, leaving her without plans. To cheer her up, Charlie suggested finally having dinner at their first date spot- Harry's Daughter! Lissie had no idea what was in store for her there, exactly 231 days since their first date. Charlie had previously reached out to the live band that was playing that night to learn a song they both loved. When the song played, and they were dancing, Charlie went down on one knee and asked Lissie the big question. She said yes! After that tearful and emphatic confirmation, some friends coming out of hiding and a few more jams from the band, it was onto the next phase. Flowers, bubbles, and party full of their nearest/dearest awaited them at Stage House Tavern in Scotch Plains, NJ. It was an amazingly detailed plan that executed perfectly. Charlie & Lissie engaged! Today they reside in South Plainfield with their dog, Madison, where they await their November Wedding in Arena, Wisconsin.
