Hello everyone! As many of you know, James and I are expecting a baby this July! We have discussed indepth going forward with our larger wedding celebration this October and ultimately decided that having a large celebration so shortly after welcoming our newborn in to our lives would be too challenging for a number of reasons. We wish we could have celebrated our marriage with all of you but sometimes life has other plans! We hope maybe someday we can throw an epic anniversary party in lieu of our cancelations in the past year. Thank you all for bearing with us as we have navigated all of these many changes in the past year and know that we love you all! -Lissa and James
We were actually introduced many years prior to dating through mutual friends but, being shy people, had not gotten to know each other much more than that. Then, in the beginning of 2018, our good friend Daniel started a Dungeons and Dragons campaign with the two of us in the group. We got to know each other more and soon after, had dinner with friends and happened to sit by each other. Many, many hours of talking that night, combined with a poor rendition of "Roxanne" we sang with one another at the jukebox, gave us the notion that we should spend more time getting to know one another. Through many "dog play dates" and marathons of the show "The Office" we began to fall in love with one another and have been together since.
In the Summer of 2019, we traveled to Colorado for a week to enjoy the mountain fresh air and to visit with family. On the last full day of the trip, we climbed Hahn's Peak: a 10k mountain by Steamboat Lake that James had climbed many times with family. When we had reached the summit, James proceeded to pull out a bottle of wine, along with an engagement ring and proposed.
